About Me
Hello and welcome to my little slice of the internet! My name is Grace Aquino, married to a wonderful man, Marlon, and a dog mom to a terrier-chihuahua mix, Cash. I am an avid learner, always finding myself tinkering in some new hobby. Though many are short-lived, it’s never short of passion for living our best life! I am in my happiest when I'm creating something… anything! Ideas excite me!
I used to own a pastry shop and an elderly transportation company with my husband. We sold our businesses in 2017 in search of the next adventure. Our most current adventure is moving into our 60 sq. ft. home on wheels which we named Flippie! She is a 2017 Ram Promaster Cargo Van that we converted into our full-time home. In 2019, we started building our van and have since been living nomadically around the US. We still call California our home primarily because most of our family lives in the state.
About the blog…
I launched “Sweet Savory Grace” in April 2018 as a platform to express my creativity. As a baker, my posts were centered around baking recipes and tricks but eventually evolved to include travel and lifestyle content.
Following the conversion of our van in April 2019, not having an oven limited my recipe contents. We have also been going on long road trips. So in June, I launched a re-branded website now called “The Sweet Savory Life” to accommodate the changes in our lives.
The Sweet Savory Life blog is fun, chic, adventurous and happy! It is a blog celebrating life and the many flavors and experiences along the way! I share not just my baking recipes and tips but also our vanlife travels and other lifestyle contents. My audience are mostly women between the ages of 25 and 50 from many different countries including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Spain and Sweden among others.
Before blogging…
Well, I’ve worn many hats in my life including being an instructor for a college prep company, a proud US Army Soldier, an entrepreneur owning a medical transportation company, and a pastry shop. Following the sale of our businesses, I went to work for other companies to improve my pastry skills in the chocolate and bakery industries.
What I like to do in my spare time…
I enjoy being outdoors to hike, snorkel, camp, and explore. And when I'm not exploring, I'm perfectly happy in finding a small corner to read an excellent book in. Also, I am macroeconomics and investing junkie! My husband and I enjoy watching movies, especially at the drive-in. We also like finding new and exciting restaurants and a good road trip!
